During groundwater sampling activities a groundwater sampling technician’s glove was punctured by a frayed support cable on a sampling pump. 

The technician was removing the pump from a well when his finger was poked by a single strand of wire from the support cable .  The wire punctured his glove and his finger was not injured and first aid was not required.  The technician promptly stopped work and the cable was repaired prior to further use of the pump. 

Take Action: Make it a habit to inspect your equipment, tools, and work area every day!  Remember, even small hazards like a frayed wire, can turn into a BIG problem! Take action, if you see a damaged piece of equipment, tool etc., repair it if you can, remove it from use if you can’t!
